Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has registered total sales of 485,659 units in September 2019, comprising domestic sales at 455,892 units and exports at 29,767 units. This is an improvement as compared to August (4,25,664 units) when MoM sales growth was down -6.45%. In percentage terms, MoM sales growth in September is 7.10%. Sales data reveals that there has been an increase in sales activity in the first two days of Navratri (29-30 Sep).

Uptick in sales has also been made possible with Honda Festival Dhamaka that was launched recently. This is the biggest festive offer ever to be launched by Honda 2Wheelers India. Under this scheme, the company is offering low down payment of just Rs 1,100.

Customers can also access benefits worth up to Rs 11,000. HMSI has introduced a special retail finance scheme, which is cheaper than standard market finance offers. With Honda’s special finance scheme, customers can avail benefits of Rs 8,900. Customers also get additional benefits worth Rs 2,100, available under Honda Joy Club subscription that is being offered free for a limited period.

Customers making payments via Paytm can get cashback and benefits up to Rs. 7,000. HMSI has also tied up with Pine Labs to provide easy EMI options on leading debit and credit cards.

September 2019 was a defining moment for HMSI, as the company had launched its first BS-VI product – Activa 125 BS-VI. This also happens to be the first BS-VI two-wheeler launch in India. The launch event was held on September 11 and attended by Hon’ble Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways and MSME, Government of India. Deliveries have now started for Activa 125 BS-VI FI, which comes at a starting price of Rs 67,490 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

In addition to BS-VI engine, new Activa 125 also gets a range of upgrades including several segment-first features. New Activa 125 is sharper and sportier and comes with updated LED position lamp, front apron, and tail light. It also gets chrome badging on side panels. Segment-first features include silent start system, idling stop system, side stand indicator with engine inhibitor function and new pass switch.

HMSI will be launching other BS-VI compliant scooters and motorcycles in the coming months. Just like Activa BS-VI that costs around 7K more, we can expect similar price hike for other Honda two-wheelers.
