Honda is set to mark its entry in the compact SUV segment with the new Honda BR-V. Showcased in metallic maroon shade at the recently concluded 2016 Auto Expo, the crossover has now debuted on their official website in a new green colour.
Where engine specifications are concerned, the new BR-V gets both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine will be capable of 118 PS power while the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine will offer 100 PS peak power. Once launched, it will compete against Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, and Nissan Terrano.
Honda BR-V is based on the Mobilio platform and comes with a three row seven seat arrangement. It gets projector headlamps, chrome front grill, silver skid plates in the front and rear, etc. Dimensions stand 4,456 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall, while the wheelbase is at 2,660mm and ground clearance, is at 201mm.
Interiors of Honda BR-V borrow inspiration from the existing Jazz and City. Sporting all black interiors, the new BR-V gets leather upholstery. The middle and last rows are spacious offering both extensive head and leg room. Features also include push button start and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Honda BR-V – Bold Runabout Vehicle is expected to be offered in six color schemes. Pricing is expected to start at INR 8 lakhs for the base variant going up to INR 12 lakhs for the top end model.
