Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has released first images of the India-spec BR-V which is on a 20 day road trip across the country. Honda BR-V (Bold Runabout Vehicle) is slated for launch in India in May 2016.
New Honda BR-V is currently on sale in Indonesia where it is being offered in two trims across four variants. Honda BR-V variants include S MT, E MT, E CVT and E Prestige CVT all priced between IDR 226,500,000 (INR 10.93 lakhs) to IDR 261,500,000 (INR 12.63 lakhs). Once launched in India, prices could range between INR 8-12 lakhs.
Set to compete against Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Honda BR-V will enter production this month at the company plant in Tapukar, Rajasthan. HCIL plans production of 36,000 units per annum.
Honda BR-V which shares its platform with the Brio, Mobilio and Amaze sedan will be a comfortable 7 seater compact SUV. It will be powered by two engine options. These include a 1.5 liter iVTEC petrol engine capable of 118 bhp power at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm peak torque at 4,600 rpm mated to a 6 speed manual or CVT automatic transmission.
Second engine option is the new 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine producing 99 bhp power and 200 Nm torque. It will either be mated to a 5 speed MT or a 6 speed MT. Fuel consumption where the petrol engine is concerned, stands at 17-18 kmpl while that of the diesel engine could go up to 24-25 kmpl.
Honda BR-V will measure 4,456mm in length, 1,735mm in width and 1,666mm in height. It sits on a 2,660mm wheelbase while it will possess ground clearance of 201mm. Exterior features will be based on Honda Active Solid Motion design.
It will sit on 16” alloy wheels and receive roof rails, skid plates, projector headlights, LED rear tail lamps and a host of safety features. Honda BR-V will be offered in colors options of Misty Green Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Taffeta White, Passion Red Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Lunar Silver Metallic.
