Honda Brio petrol hatchback launched at price of Rs. 3.95 lakhs (specs)
Honda SIEL geared up to launch their first small hatchback for the Indian car market after a few initial delays that resulted in the Honda Brio launch being delayed. The car has long been anticipated as their cheapest foray yet in India. Takashi Nagai, President & CEO, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., graced the event. The Honda entry level car is here to offer some stiff competition to others in the small car range at a starting price of Rs. 3.95 lakhs. The car achieved it’s competitive price by opting for localization of critical auto components which is at 80%. These parts are being exported to Thailand. Localization for the Honda Brio will increase to 90% over the next few months. Honda Siel in India at present operates through 135 dealerships across 80 city with 69% of dealerships in smaller cities. The company looks forward to increasing to 143 dealerships by the end of this fiscal year. The Honda Brio is the smallest car from the auto company but is their biggest commitment for Global Honda.
Cheaper cars and reduced prices is what Honda has been banking on in the past few months. Honda City was recently offered at a lower price followed by a relaunch of Honda Jazz. Both these cars did well in sales figures since they became more within means. 5000 units of Honda City were retailed during August and the Jazz too showed some optimistic results. Honda Brio will be only a petrol variant with 88 Bhp power and 109 Nm of torque. It will weigh just 900 kilos and will be available in three variants E, S and V. The E variant will be the cheapest model while the S and V variants will have safety features such as ABS, airbags, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors and power windows and additional comfort features. Also among its notable features would be a 2 DIN stereo and 4 speakers and USB/AUX connectivity. The Honda Brio comes in 6 new exciting colors, Energetic Blue,Rallye Red, Urban Titanium, Alabaster Silver, Taffeta White and Crystal Black Pearl.
