A showroom-ready Honda Brio RS hatchback has been spied in Indonesia signalling an imminent launch. The naming and powertrain details of the car has been confirmed by the PT Honda Prospect Motor’s trademark registration.
The new top-end variant will carry forward the familiar 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which produces 89 PS and will be available exclusively with a CVT. We don’t expect to see any mechanical changes on the Brio RS.
Coming to the styling, the spruced up hatchback receives Mobilio RS-like enhancements complete with new headlamp clusters with LED daytime running lights, black grille with chrome underlining and an extruded front bumper with sharper elements. In profile, side skirts and diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels are new. The rear fascia is expected to feature a sporty roof-mounted spoiler and a new bumper.
Inside, the Honda Brio RS would adopt an all-black color theme and a few added equipment such as a touchscreen infotainment system. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD will be standard.

In India, the Honda Brio has been neglected as the Japanese automaker shifted its focus on promoting the bigger diesel engined models. We may see the RS variant launching in India in a few months’ time but the product needs more than just a sportier variant to make its presence felt in the market.
