New Honda City sedan made its world premier in India, back in November 2013. The first country to get new Honda City was India, back in January. Ever since it’s launch, Honda City has managed to overtake sales of Hyundai Verna, the previous market leader in the segment by a huge margin of about 12k units and that too in a matter of just three months. The success story of new City didn’t end here. Honda Malaysia launched the new City on 20th March and now, it has been revealed that in their history, the City has received most number of bookings in a month – 10,000 units.
In India, the new City was launched at a starting price of Rs 7.42 lakhs for the petrol 1.5l iVTEC motor that generates 119 PS @ 6600 rpm and 145 Nm torque @4600 rpm. This option is available with both manual and CVT auto gear box. For manual, mileage is at 17.8 kmpl, for CVT it is at 17.9 kmpl.
Another engine option on offer for Honda City in India, is the 1.5l diesel iDTEC which generates 100 PS power @ 3600 rpm and 200 Nm torque @ 1750 rpm. This variant is only offered with manual transmission. It is India’s most fuel efficient car with mileage claim of 26 kmpl. Honda City diesel launch price starts from Rs 8.62 lakhs.
In Malaysia, Honda City is only available with 1.5l iVTEC. This motor is tuned slightly different than the one on offer in India. It generates 120 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,600 rpm.
