Hyundai Carlino SUV spied performing high speed test on highway – Video

Hyundai Motors India is actively testing the Carlino sub 4 meter SUV which is slated to go on sale from 2019. Spied on test once again, this upcoming SUV appears to be a smaller version of the Hyundai Creta. It will be positioned under the Creta in the company lineup.

Hyundai Carlino was heavily camouflaged; but spy video draws attention to some of its exterior features. Its exterior will be seen with design elements carried forward from the Carlino concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.

It will boast of a new cascading front grille with a window pane pattern, LED DRLs on the top of its headlamps and projector headlamps on the lower side along with fog lamps. This is similar to what we have seen on the Hyundai Kona and Tata Harrier. The front bumper will receive a silver skid plat at the bottom while at the sides, the Carlino will receive short overhangs as are seen on the Creta. Spy shots also reveal large roof rails and new diamond cut alloy wheels.

Interiors of the new Carlino were spied earlier. It could be seen with a dual tone color scheme as is seen on the Hyundai i20 and Creta. It will also receive a share of comforts and infotainment with a touchscreen infotainment system with the latest in connectivity options.

The new Hyundai Carlino would be powered by a 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine that also powers the i20 internationally, offering 116 bhp power. The 1.5 liter diesel engine will be capable of 113 bhp power and 250 Nm torque and will be BS VI compliant. These engines could be mated to 6 speed manual / automatic transmission options while there is also a possibility that Hyundai will offer an AMT, which is now offered with Santro.

The Hyundai Carlino could be priced between Rs 8-11 lakhs and will compete with Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza in the sub 4m compact SUV segment.
