With India being the first market to receive Hyundai i20 facelift, called the Elite i20, the launch will start at 11-30 AM. New i20 will come in five variants to include Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta and an option variant for either the Magna (O) or Sports (O). Based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 storm-edge philosophy which was also seen on board the new Santa Fe.
Boasting of a more aggressive stance, the Hyundai Elite i20 will receive both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 1.2 liter Kappa engine producting 83 PS peak power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Another petrol option on offer is the 1.4l mill generating 100 PS power and 136 Nm torque.
For diesel, it will be the 1.4 liter CRDI engine which produces 90 PS peak power at 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm torque at 1,500-2,750 rpm mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. No automatic variant will be offered on any variant at launch, but could be considered later.
The Elite i20 is shorter than its earlier counterpart by 10 mm but wider by 24mm while both wheel base and ground clearance have been substantially increased. This will result in added cabin and boot space. On board features could include bucket seats, follow me home lamps, central armrests and sun glass holder.
Safety features in the form of impact sensing door unlock, clutch lock, multi function display, lane changing indicators and smart pedal system will be seen in the Elite i20. Pricing of the Elite i20, which will be revealed on launch, has been kept a closely guarded secret to date, however it is likely that the company will be pricing it at a premium.
