Hyundai Creta was the only model in the company lineup to cross sales above the 10,000 unit mark in Feb 2023
Hyundai was the 2nd best-selling OEM in Feb 2023 after Maruti Suzuki. It led over Tata Motors by a margin of 4,102 units. Hyundai sales were at 46,968 units in Feb 2023, up 6.6 percent YoY from 44,050 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales dipped 6.3 percent from 50,106 units sold in Jan 2023. Market share also fell YoY to 14.1 percent in Feb 2023 from 14.6 percent held in the same month last year.
Hyundai Sales Breakup Feb 2023 – Creta Tops List
At No. 1 on the sales chart was the Hyundai Creta. Sales increased 8 percent YoY to 10,421 units, up from 9,606 units sold in Feb 2023. MoM sales posted a decline of 31 percent as against 15,037 units sold in Jan 2023.
Hyundai Venue sales dipped 2 percent YoY and 7 percent MoM to 9,997 units in Feb 2023. It was at No. 2 in the company lineup and at No 3 on the list of best-selling sub 4 meter UVs in the past month after the Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon. Increased demand was seen for the Hyundai i10 Grand which improved 13 percent YoY and 10 percent MoM to 9,635 units in Feb 2023.
It was also the Hyundai i20 that noted increased sales in Feb 2023 at 9,287 units, up 59 percent YoY and 13 percent MoM. YoY and MoM growth in sales was also seen in the case of the Xcent/Aura up 51 percent YoY to 5,524 units in Feb 2023 from 3,668 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales were higher by 19 percent over 4,634 units sold in Jan 2023.
Hyundai Alcazar, Tucson, Verna
Alcazar sales fell 38 percent YoY to 1,559 units from 2,516 units sold in Feb 2022 while MoM sales improved marginally by 1 percent from 1,537 units sold in Jan 2023. Outstanding sales growth was reported for the Hyundai Tucson which grew by 190 percent YoY and 177 percent MoM to 498 units in Feb 2023. There had been 172 units and 180 units sold in Feb 2022 and Jan 2023 respectively.
Hyundai Verna sales have been lackluster in the past month, down 96 percent YoY to 47 units from 1,058 units sold in Feb 2022 while MoM sales dipped by 95 percent over 995 units sold in Jan 2023. This decline is because Hyundai was in the process of launching the new gen Verna. With that being launched, Hyundai is aiming at doubling their Verna sales.
Sales of Kona EV were at 0 units in Feb 2023. It is likely that Hyundai is getting ready to launch the new Kona EV which was recently launched in Europe and South Korea. Deliveries of Ioniq5 are yet to start in India.
Apart from the new Kona EV, Hyundai has multiple other launches planned for India. These include Creta facelift, Tucson facelift, as well as an all new mini SUV to rival Tata Punch. All these cars have already been spied testing. Hyundai is also working on Creta EV launch.
