Hyundai reported strong sales in India last month, with the Creta and Venue along with the Grand i10 contributing most

Hyundai Motor India has reported growth both in YoY and MoM sales in March 2023. The company was the No.2 OEM in terms of sales last month with a 15.1 percent market share, up from 13.9 percent held in March 2022. Hyundai sales stood at 50,600 units in India in March 2023. This was a YoY growth of 13 percent over 44,600 units sold in March 2022. MoM sales also improved by 8 percent from 46,968 units sold in Feb 2023.

Hyundai Creta was the best-selling model in the company lineup. Sales stood at 14,026 units in the past month, up 33 percent over 10,532 units sold in March 2022. MoM sales also saw a 35 percent growth from 10,421 units sold in Feb 2023.

At No. 2 was Hyundai Venue with 10,024 units sold in the past month, a 9 percent YoY growth over 9,220 units sold in March 2022. MoM sales remained flat with a 27 unit volume growth when compared to 9,997 units sold in Feb 2023. Hyundai Venue was the 3rd best-selling sub 4-meter UV in March 2023 after the Brezza and Nexon.

Sales de-growth was reported for the Hyundai Grand i10 which dipped 4 percent YoY to 9,304 units in March 2023 from 9,687 units sold in March 2022 and down 3 percent MoM from 9,635 units sold in Feb 2023. The i20 saw its YoY sales improve by 41 percent to 6,596 units in March 2023 from 4,693 units sold in March 2022 but MoM sales dipped by 29 percent when compared to 9,287 units sold in Feb 2023.

Hyundai Xcent/Aura sedan sales were at 3,774 units in March 2023 just 1 unit lower than sales of 3,775 units in March 2022. On the other hand, MoM sales fell by 32 percent from 5,524 units sold in Feb 2023.

New Gen Verna 1st Month Sales At 3,755 Units

Hyundai Verna demand has risen significantly YoY and MoM. Sales stood at 3,755 units in the past month, up 137 percent when compared to 1,586 units sold in March 2022. MoM sales were higher by 7889 percent from just 47 units sold in Feb 2023. The new 2023 Verna moved into company showrooms last month. It comes in with larger dimensions, several segment first features, a sportier stance and powerful turbo-petrol engine.

Alcazar sales also increased YoY and MoM to 2,519 units in March 2023. MoM sales improved by 62 percent from 1,559 units sold in Feb 2023. It was Hyundai Tucson that also received more attention with sales increasing 433 percent YoY to 581 units in March 2023 from 109 units sold in March 2022. MoM sales were higher by 17 percent from 498 units sold in Feb 2023. The new Hyundai Ioniq electric 5 seater SUV contributed 21 units to March 2023 sales.

Apart from the month of March 2023, the company has seen phenomenal growth in FY 2022-23. This was on account of the introduction of 7 segment defining models that included the Hyundai Tucson, Venue, Venue N Line, Ioniq 5, Grand i10 Nios, Aura and new Verna, each of which catered to a different segment of buyers in the country.
