Hyundai Venue prices start from a staggering Rs 6.5 lakhs. This is exactly the starting price which was predicted by us a few days ago. Not many believed Hyundai to launch Venue in the Rs 6 lakh bracket, as it was loaded with features. But Hyundai India has done it, and left enthusiasts happily surprised, while leaving rivals scratching their heads.
Ahead of launch, Hyundai had revealed that they wanted to sell about 10,000 units of Venue every month in India. Before today, that seemed impossible, as the segment itself is of about 30k units. And with sales on the decline, it would have been even more difficult to achieve such a target.
Last month, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport registered a combined sales figure of 26k units. With the aggressive pricing strategy of Hyundai India, it seems Venue could very well achieve its sales target. Below are detailed variants and their respective prices of all five sub 4 meter cars.
As you can see in the table above, price of Venue petrol manual variants ranges from Rs 6.5 lakhs to Rs 10.6 lakhs. This when compared to rivals, Ford EcoSport petrol trim ranges from Rs 7.83 lakhs to Rs 11.37 lakhs, Mahindra XUV300 petrol ranges from Rs 7.9 lakhs to Rs 11.5 lakhs, Tata Nexon petrol manual ranges from Rs 6.48 lakhs to Rs 9.74 lakhs. Maruti Brezza does not come in petrol option.
Automatic variants of Venue petrol are priced from Rs 9.35 lakh to Rs 11.1 lakh. Ford EcoSport AT petrol variants are priced from Rs 9.76 lakh to Rs 11.36 lakh. Nexon AMT petrol is priced from Rs 7.84 lakhs to Rs 9.74 lakhs. XUV300 does not come in automatic option.
Speaking about Venue diesel, it is priced in the range of Rs 7.75 lakhs to Rs 10.84 lakhs. Ford EcoSport diesel prices range from Rs 8.42 lakhs to Rs 11.9 lakhs. Mahindra XUV300 diesel prices range from Rs 8.5 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs. Maruti Brezza diesel prices range from Rs 7.7 lakhs to Rs 10.5 lakhs. Tata Nexon diesel prices ranges from 7.5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs for manual variant. Automatic option is not on offer with any of the SUVs diesel engine, except for Nexon which gets AMT option. It is priced from Rs 8.84 lakhs to Rs 10.7 lakhs. All prices above are ex-sh.
The pricing of Venue surely looks tempting for buyers. But, will this help Hyundai achieve their target sales figure? And if it does, which rival SUV sales will be the most affected? Will it be Maruti Brezza that suffers the most as it does not have petrol engine? Or will it be Mahindra XUV3000, Ford EcoSport or Tata Nexon? We will have to wait a few months to get the anser.
