Hyundai Venue registers 2k bookings on 1st day – Petrol more in demand

Hyundai Venue is looking to shake up things in the compact SUV space, which is currently dominated by the likes of Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. Venue definitely seems to have a lot of potential, as it comes with several first-in-class features. Official bookings have already commenced for Venue and customers can place their order by paying an amount of Rs 21,000 (online / offline). Hyundai has revealed that they have received 2,000 bookings on the first day itself (84 SUVs every hour booked on 1st day).

Mr. Vikas Jain, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “We are overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response received from our SUV loving Customers. The Day one response is a record booking for an SUV, with an average of 84 VENUE every hour. We are receiving customer enquiries at all our touch points across India as VENUE tops Vehicle Preference Chart in Design, Power, Transmission and Connectivity. Further, the notable traction on Online booking is coming from Semi-urban areas due to strong telecom infrastructure. This showcases emergence of new era of connected mobility solutions and acceptance of technology in day-to-day life.”

Ahead of its launch on May 21, Hyundai has revealed that Venue will be offered in four trims – E, S, SX, and SX(O). Offering two petrol and one diesel option, Venue will have a total of 13 variants. Petrol options include a 1.2-litre Kappa engine that makes 81 bhp of max power and 114 Nm of max torque. This one is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Diesel variant will utilize the 1.4-litre U2 CRDi engine from Verna, which generates 89 bhp/219 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Second petrol option features a 1.0-litre Kappa turbo GDI (gasoline direct injection) unit that delivers 118 bhp of max power and 171 Nm of max torque. It will be paired with a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) unit, which will be a segment first. However, the 1.0-litre turbo GDI option will be available only with  S and SX+ trims.

Being targeted at the young at heart, Hyundai Venue will be offered in seven trendy colours – lava orange, polar white, fiery red, deep forest, denim blue, stardust, and typhoon silver. Dual colour theme options will also be available such as white with black roof, orange with black roof and blue with a white roof.

Venue will be India’s first connected car, powered by Hyundai’s proprietary BlueLink technology. With an embedded e-SIM, users can access various features such as remote vehicle tracking, engine start-stop, door lock/unlock, geo-fencing, speed alerts, vehicle health and diagnostics, etc. Other key features include reverse parking camera and sensors, side airbags, sunroof, ventilated seats, high-speed warning, and disc brakes on all four wheels.

Even when it’s loaded with features, Venue is expected to be competitively priced to make it attractive to prospective buyers. Expected launch price of Hyundai Venue is Rs 8-12 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai aims to sell 10k units of Venue in India. They also aim to become India’s largest selling SUV brand post Venue launch.
