In its top-spec avatar, 2023 Hyundai Verna will get sporty red accents on its exteriors as well as on the inside
C-segment sedan has undergone a major break-through in the recent past. On the onslaught of SUV popularity, this segment was considered dead and last of their kind. Current crop of sedans like 5th gen City, Slavia and Virtus have not only pushed on and stayed relevant, they have bridged the gap between C and D segments too.
These sedans have made this segment popular again and are attracting a lot of buzz. Latest entrant to this space is new gen 2023 Hyundai Verna with vengeance to challenge current champion City. Ahead of launch, the top-spec model has been papped completely in Goa, revealing all of its extensive features. Let’s take a look.
2023 Hyundai Verna Top-Spec Variant
For starters, this is not the mid-spec variant that was spied yesterday. This is a top-spec model with all the bells and whistles. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Kartik Chawla for sharing these exclusive images of Verna Turbo DCT top variant. This particular model is painted in a Grey shade and has contrasting silver-finished ORVM and door handles.
On the outside, we can see the wide LED lightbar which creates a dominating face and accentuates its width as well. It would have been nicer if the outer elements of this LED light bar doubled up as turn indicators, but that isn’t the case. Turn indicators are placed below its triple-barrel LED reflector headlights.
This particular model is likely to be a sporty variant as it gets blacked-out alloy wheels and red calipers inside them. Not just brake calipers, this red accent theme is carried on to its interiors as well. As seen in the pictures, there is a red strip running within its extended AC vent element and AC vent adjusters. On the mid-spec variant we covered yesterday, this strip was finished in silver.
Above it, there are twin 10.25” screens, one for infotainment and another for instrumentation. There are massive bezels around these displays, making the system look a bit odd. Below the infotainment, there is a row of buttons for defoggers and fan, below which there is a display. This display houses controls for both infotainment and AC, which is switchable with a button.
Specs & Features
Below this new screen, we can see ventilated seat control buttons as well. Centre console consists of a wireless charger, a row of buttons for parking assist and drive mode selection and a manual gear selector, behind which there is an electronic parking brake and auto hold button. The new 2-spoke steering wheel is horizontal, with perfect 9 and 3 positions and has controls for audio and cruise control.
Steering, seat upholstery and gear selector get red stitching and piping on this particular model. Unlike the mid-spec model, this one gets Bose branding on its speaker grilles as well. Finishing off features list, there is an ADAS module below the front number plate holder which enables Hyundai’s slew of driver assistance tech.
Powertrains on Verna include a 1.5L MPi petrol engine with a 6-speed MT and an IVT. This engine is capable of making 113.4 bhp of power and 144 Nm while a 1.5L GDi turbo petrol engine making 158 bhp and 253 Nm should appeal to enthusiasts. The latter is equipped with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT. Launch will happen on March 21st, and full variant-wise features and pricing will be revealed on that day. Expected price range of new Verna is Rs 10 lakh to Rs 19 lakh, ex-sh.
