Ramesh Babu’s rags to riches story began when his father died and all he inherited was his barber’s shop. This was in 1994 but today, Babu is the owner of a fleet of over 378 cars.
This include the likes of a Rolls Royce Ghost, BMW 7-series, Mercedes S Class, E Class, Viano, BMW 5 Series, Toyota Camrys, Honda Accords and some Honda CR-Vs, while a most recent addition is a S600 Maybach.
Babu’s success story commenced with his buying a Maruti Suzuki Omni with his savings from the barber’s shop. He would then rent out this car which got him some additional earning. From then on, Babu owned 7 cars as in 2014 while as on date this count has gone over 378.
The latest addition is a Mercedes Maybach S600 with a price tag of INR 2.7 crores powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine offering 530 bhp peak power and 830 Nm torque. This car is fitted with all available luxury and comfort features and will soon be on his most favored list of vehicles that Babu rents out to politicians and Bollywood superstars that include Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Aamir Khan.
Babu charges INR 50,000 per day for the Rolls Royce Ghost while prices of other luxury cars vary according to their exclusivity. Though he conducts this business of hiring out vehicles, Babu still reports to his barber shop each morning where he continues to cut hair for INR 100 per haircut.
