Launch – Jaguar XE and XF get ingenium petrol engine in India

Jaguar Land Rover India today introduced the Jaguar XE and XF powered by the company’s future forward and modern lightweight and efficient, all-aluminium Ingenium petrol engine.

The new powertrain replaces the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor. The engine was first introduced in the Velar launched in India earlier this year. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible scheduled for launch on 27th March 2018 is also powered by the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine.

In its new avatar, 2.0 l (litre) Ingenium petrol returns 147 kW and 184 kW outputs, mated to an 8-Speed Electronic Automatic Transmission with sequential shifts, and All Surface Progress Control. The 147 kW powertrain is offered on XE Pure and Prestige, and XF Prestige.

The 184 kW powertrain is offered on XE and XF Portfolio. In Pure and Prestige variants, power output remains unchanged at 200 hp. Power output for Portfolio variants is up at 250 hp, 10 hp over teh outgoing engine.

Powered by Ingenium petrol, Jaguar XE is available at a starting price of Rs 35.99 lakh (down 14,000), and Jaguar XF is priced at Rs 49.80 lakh (down Rs 1.59 lakhs) onward. Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said, “The Jaguar XE and XF have done tremendously well in India and with the entry of the refined and efficient Ingenium petrol powertrain on our award winning sedans, we expect more customers to enjoy the thrilling drive experience these two cars offer.”

Developed in-house as part of the modular Ingenium family, the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder low friction all aluminium Ingenium engine is lightweight, and uses Continuously Variable Valve Lift tech for improved efficiency, air delivery to both engines, and enhanced vehicle dynamic.

15 percent improvement in fuel efficiency is noted. Twin scroll turbos reduce lag, optimise power output and efficiency. The 2018 Range Rover Sport facelift too is equipped with twin-scroll turbo to produce 300 hp.
