Showcased in India at the 2018 Auto Expo, the all new Carnival MPV is now getting ready for launch in India. Ahead of its launch, Kia India has started promotion activities, and now they have shared its first official teaser video.

A global product, Kia Carnival is also called Grand Carnival, Sedona and Grand Sedona. Third-gen Carnival is sold in countries such as United States, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. It will now be launched in India.

Spotted recently on road tests, new Kia Carnival comes with a range of exterior updates. Key among them are restyled headlamps, chrome infused front grille, angular DRLs and sporty 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Watch the teaser video of Kia Carnival below.

India-spec Carnival will get some styling as well as feature updates. Some features have been continued from the existing model including the overall outline of the car, shape of doors and roof design.

In international markets, Kia Carnival is offered in 7-seat, 8-seat and 11-seat variants. However, when launched in India, it will be available only in 6, 7 and 8 seat variant. Carnival is technically classified as a minivan, so it will not have any rivals at the time of launch in India. It is possible that Carnival can eat into sales of Toyota Innova Crysta, as it will be a larger and more premium vehicle available in the same price range.

On the inside, Kia Carnival will feature best in class comforts. This includes leather seats, rear seat entertainment package, extendable leg rests for rear passengers, 10.1 inch touchscreens as option for rear passengers, two sunroofs, power adjustable driver seat, sliding rear doors, etc. Safety features on offer includes multiple airbags in front and rear, ABS, EBD, etc.

When launched in India, third-generation Carnival will be offered with a BS6 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates max power of 200 hp @ 3,800 rpm and max torque of 441 Nm @ 1,750-2,750 rpm. Engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Price is expected to be around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia has got a good start in the Indian market with Seltos, which has received more than 60k bookings. In Nov 2019, Seltos became India’s best-selling SUV. It is also one of the top exported cars from India.

Kia now has an excellent opportunity to build momentum and boost sales by continuously introducing new products. In addition to Carnival, the company has lined up various other cars for the Indian market such as Kia Sportage, Kia Rio, Kia Stonic, Kia Soul and Kia Stinger.
