Kia Seltos is all set for its launch in India, which will take place tomorrow. But ahead of that, official brochure of the production variant has been leaked. Brochure scans are credit to Avinash Acharya.
Seltos is offering several hi-tech features to make driving a lot easier for users. For example, there’s the 360° camera view that provides unobstructed view of the SUV’s surrounding environment. This will come handy when negotiating heavy traffic or when parking in tight spaces. Another helpful feature is blind view monitor (BVM), which is segment-first in the country. Seltos is also offering driving rear view monitor (DRVM) that continuously streams the rear view on the touchscreen display.
Certain features have been developed specially for Indian driving conditions, which include a powerful AC with fast cooling, improved acceleration without compromising fuel efficiency, clutch force reduction system for reduced driver fatigue, enhanced braking system and dual-horn setup for a louder sound.
Apart from Seltos, only Hyundai Venue and MG Hector are offering internet connected smart features. These connected features are designed to make driving a delightful experience and also allow users to effectively deal with unforeseen events and emergency situations.
Kia Seltos structure has been built using high-strength steel and comprises specialized crumple zones, which work to provide improved safety in case of a collision. Seltos is equipped with high-end safety features such as 6-airbags, ABS, brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist control (HAC), vehicle stability management (VSM), auto cruise control, central locking, keyless entry, power windows, disc brakes on all wheels, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
Seltos is the first car in India to offer BS-VI compliant petrol and diesel engine options from day one. The Smartstream 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine generates max power of 140 hp and max torque of 242 Nm. Engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or 7DCT automatic transmission.
The Smartstream 1.5-litre petrol engine makes 115 hp / 144 Nm and comes mated with a 6-speed manual or IVT automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel unit makes 115 hp / 250 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Seltos is the first SUV in its segment to offer automatic transmission option for all variants. Most fuel efficient engine is the diesel unit that gives 21 kmpl on the MT variant and 18 kmpl on the automatic variant. Fuel efficiency of Seltos petrol manual and automatic variants is in the range of 16.1 – 16.8 kmpl.
Seltos will be offered in two trims – Tech Line which is the premium version and Sports Line which is the sports version. The SUV comes with three drive modes of Normal, Eco and Sport and three traction modes of Mud, Snow/Wet, and Sand. With the combination of these drive and traction modes, Seltos can effectively take on any terrain, weather conditions and driving needs.
