Kia Seltos, the premium compact SUV from Kia Motor, marks the entry of the company into the Indian automobile sector. The Seltos will officially launch on August 22nd, while bookings open today, across the company’s dealer network as well as online
Kia Seltos has been much talked about, spied on test and showcased in June while now auto enthusiasts await official launch. The Kia Seltos will be offered in two trims – GT Line and Tech Line. It will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine variants and will come with connected car technology with 37 smart features.
In terms of design, the Kia Seltos is directed towards families and developed specially for the Indian markets. It gets an aggressive stance with sharp character lines, a tiger nose front grille, LED head and tail lamps, LED DRLs and dual tone roof. It sits on 17” machine cut alloy wheels. The GT Line variant also gets red brake calipers and red accents on its sides to set it apart from its Tech Line trim.
Kia Seltos interiors exude a sense of elegance and the latest in technology. It gets a wide dashboard for better viewing, leatherette seats, ambient mood lighting, 2 step reclining rear seats, a sporty driver seat and D-Cut steering wheel. It also gets sun shade curtains, ventilated front seats high line tyre pressure monitoring and Kia’s UVO connect which is Bluetooth based remote control mobile app with a AVNT system. This aids in tracking of the car, car location sharing, remote start stop and remote air condition controls.
Seltos is fitted with a 400 watt 8 speaker Bose premium music system with dynamic speed compensation and mood lights. It also offers 8 mono and 6 multi colour themes. Infotainment is via a 10.25 HD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with embedded navigation and split screen function.
Kia Seltos is powered by a third generation Smartstream engine lineup. These include a 1.5 liter petrol, 1.5 liter diesel and 1.4 liter turbopetrol. Each of these get mated to a 6 speed manual transmission options of 7DCT, IVT, and 6 AT. The Seltos also gets 3 traction modes – Mud, Snow/Wet and Sand offering enhanced grip and better control on all surfaces.
Kia Seltos is being produced at the company’s 536 acre facility in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh. No prices have been announced as on date but are expected within a range of Rs.11-17 lakhs. When launched, the Seltos will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and MG Hector.
