Kia Sonet will make its global debut on 7th August
Kia Motors has been releasing teasers of its upcoming Sonet SUV as they have announced the world premiere on 7th August. The Sonet has now been teased via official rendering sketch, in Red colour. Kia had shown off the new Sonet SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. This was in concept format but now the production version is being teased. The initial teaser image shared shows off the Sonet silhouette. It especially highlights its LED light bars and broad shoulders.
The recent video shared by the company draws attention to the matching tail lights with a similar design as its headlamps with DRLs, a reflector strip running across the boot and also the exterior design that is dominated by roof rails, roof mounted lip spoiler and rear wiper.
The new Kia Sonet SUV will also sport a shark fin antenna and sunroof and the earlier teaser also showed off a Tiger Nose front grille with chrome surrounds, a chiseled bumper, large airdams with silver surrounds and a clamshell bonnet design.

First in Segment Features
Interiors have not been detailed as on date, but this compact SUV is set to get a host of first in segment features. Kia Sonet will be seen with the biggest touchscreen infotainment system in its segment measuring 10.25 inches. It will also receive a premium Bose sound system, automatic air conditioning and UVO connected technology with artificial intelligence-based voice assistant system. It will get an air purifier and 360 degree parking camera among its interior features.
The Kia Sonet SUV will be powered by the same engine lineup that is seen on the Hyundai Venue. The 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine will make 82 hp power and 115 Nm torque while the 1.5 liter diesel engine will belt out 99 hp power and 240 Nm torque with both engines receiving manual gearbox as standard. The Kia Sonet will also get a 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine making 119 hp power and 172 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox, an iMT transmission or a dual clutch automatic gearbox.
Pricing
With the Kia Sonet to enter a highly competitive sub compact segment in India, currently commanded by the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Hyundai Venue, pricing should be just right in order to compete. Hence a price range between Rs.7-11.50 lakhs is what can be expected.
