Kia X-Men: Apocalypse themed Sportage CUV revealed

Kia, title sponsors of the 2016 Australian Open tennis championship, which is scheduled for January 18 – January 31, 2016; will have an X-Men themed Sportage on display. Kia X-Men: Apocalypse themed Sportage CUV has an exterior design centered around Mystique, a central character in the movie played by Jennifer Lawrence.

The compact crossover sports a two toned roof with black accents and new front grille proudly, displaying the ‘X’ emblem. External features also include lightweight wheels and another ‘X’ emblem on tailgate. It also gets Mystique like blue body wrap, while her yellow eyes are reflected in the yellow tinted headlights. Kia X-Men themed Sportage sees red roof and door mirrors following the colour scheme of Mystique’s red hair. Kia refers to the car as X-Car.

The tie up between Kia and X-Men will be seen in a special video that will be released on January 4, 2016 showing global brand ambassador Rafael Nadal taking on X-Men villain Apocalypse with the Kia X-Men themed Sportage in attendance.

Speaking about engine options, Kia base variant receives a 2.4 liter four cylinder engines capable of 181 hp and 175 lb/ft torque while the top of the line Sportage SX Turbo is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine capable of 241 hp peak power and 260 lb/ft peak torque.

Kia Sportage has been the company’s bestselling models along with Cee’d and Picanto city cars. Sales of the Sportage SUV have touched 47,064 units since launch in 2010 while the automaker expects to see even more resounding success with the new version being launched.
