Auto sector in India is currently in a state of contrasts, wherein some products are doing exceptionally well while others are fighting for their survival. At a time when several two-wheeler manufacturers have announced discounts and benefits, there are those that have dared to increase their prices.
KTM starting range that comprises 125 Duke and RC 125 belongs to the latter group, as their prices have been increased. The increase in prices of KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 is currently limited to specific cities.
However, it is expected that KTM dealerships across India will start quoting the increased prices in the coming days. The hike in price for 125 Duke is Rs 2,248 while RC 125 now costs Rs 1,537 more. New prices for KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 are Rs 1,32,500 and Rs 1,48,750, respectively.
Both 125 Duke and RC 125 have been witnessing good demand even during slowdown, which explains why KTM is not worried about increasing their price. KTM 125 twins have become the top selling bikes in the company’s portfolio, registering an impressive 32.16% growth in July 2019, as compared to June 2019.
KTM 125 Duke is the most affordable performance bike in the country, which is one of the reasons for its wide popularity. It is worth noting that this is the fourth time KTM 125 Duke has undergone an upward price revision. Price of 125 Duke was increased by Rs 5,000 in June as well.
The bike’s launch price was Rs 1.18 lakh, so there has been a total increase of around Rs 14k since November 2018. RC 125 was launched in June 2019 and it was offered at an introductory price of Rs 1.47 lakh.
Hike in prices of 125 Duke and RC 125 is being attributed to increase in manufacturing cost. Both bikes share the same 124.7 cc, liquid cooled engine that generates max power of 14.3 bhp and max torque of 12 Nm. Engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. 125 Duke rivals the likes of Yamaha MT 15 whereas RC 125 takes on Yamaha YZF R15 V3.
