KTM Duke 390 engine cover cracks open while riding at 30 kmph
One of the first such incidents being reported for KTM Duke 390.
In the past, we have seen incidents when the engine cover of a motorcycle has cracked or broken. Being one of the hardest and strongest built part of a motorcycle, in most of the cases this has happened due to an accident or impact.
But this time, a KTM Duke 390 owner from Delhi, Kuber Bhatia is reporting that the engine cover of his bike cracked while he was riding at 30 kmph, inside the city. All he heard was a huge blast sound from the engine, and the bike stalled. Below is what Kuber has shared on his Facebook page –
“I bought KTM Duke 390 in August 2016 and since I have bought this bike it was giving me perpetual problem. There were vibrations, engine oil problems and the list goes on. But today I had a close escape. While coming back from office my bike started giving a very unusual, loud noise and suddenly I heard a blast. When I checked, the bike’s engine (which is made up of high-end aluminium, as they claim) had a HUGE CRACK. The bike could have caught fire or the oil could have spilled over me.”
Purchased back in August 2016 for a sum of INR 2.25 lakh, Kuber’s KTM Duke 390 has done about 6,000 kms till now. It has been serviced on time at KTM outlet in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. Kuber claims that his bike has been properly maintained, and has never been involved in an accident.
Kuber is yet to hear from KTM regarding the issue. It is not clear as to what exactly happened here. If you have any explanation as to what could have caused this, do share your view / comment below.
