Dude crashes Lamborghini Murcielago and absconds (video)

UPDATEThe driver has been identified by Delhi Police

Of the growing but limited Lamborghini’s that grace Indian roads, it’s going to be one less car for an undetermined period. The response to a five-crore Lamborghini Murcielago lying motionless against a road divider near India Gate was overwhelming. Passerby gathered in droves to watch the hauling vehicle lift the wreck onto a flatbed before driving away.

Could it be a write off: Driver crashes Lamborghini Murcielago near India Gate

The driver lost control, crashed the Lamborghini Murcielago in question, and remained unbeknowst to traffic cops in the immediate aftermath. Contradictory initial reports suggest, the driver sent his bouncers back to the crash site to rescue the cops while the night patrol cops too reached the accident spot.

Another report says the registration number plate was missing, which makes it difficult for police to investigate the matter swiftly. Cops were trying to identify the Lamborghini Murcielago owner through vehicle registration papers found in the car. The midnight rendezvous certainly didn’t go as planned for the driver and soon the wrecked Murcielago was spotted by a night patrol cop.

The damaged yellow Lamborghini Murcielago was found stationary at the Copernicus Marg divider with no signs of owner/driver. The driver simply left on foot in quick pace soon after bringing the vehicle to a halt.

The car was later taken to Tilak Marg police station. The rear left is ripped, and the tyres are in no alignment to carry the vehicle anywhere. In fact, the rear left tyre is missing as the Lambo finds itself in police custody. A case is filed under Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. The high speed night trip ended in a body slam of sorts to render the vehicle nonfunctional. No loss to life is reported. Despite the accident being a late night matter, it’s no surprise to see the large crowd gathered to watch the spectacle. From passersby stopping to catch a glimpse, to cars parked in the vicinity, there’s also a large number of camera persons gathered.
