Mahindra KUV100 is a compact SUV in the sub 4-meter segment, which was launched earlier this year in India. Based on Mahindra’s new generation platform, it is offered with both 1.2 L petrol and diesel engine options delivering 82 hp / 115 Nm and 77 hp 190 Nm respectively. Mated to 5 MT, petrol claims 18.15 kmpl, diesel claims 25.32 kmpl.
Priced from INR 4.57 lakh, sales of KUV100 average at about 5,000 units a month. Last month, it was the best-selling Mahindra car, beating the likes of Bolero, Scorpio, TUV300 and XUV500.
In order to offer their customers customization options, Mahindra has announced the launch of Xplorer Edition kits. The company had showcased one such example back in February this year, at the 2016 Auto Expo. These Xplorer kits can be purchased from any authorized Mahindra car dealer in India. They will cost about INR 50,000. Those who have already purchased KUV100, can also get the kit fitted on their car.
Xplorer kit comes with silver cladding on the front and rear bumper, Xplorer badge in the headlight cluster, silver cladding on the roof rails and side skirt, roof finished in glossy black, and faux air intakes in the front. At the rear, the kit will add black plastic cladding to the roof spoiler, tail lights, while rear windshield gets a glossy black border. On the inside, the only change is black leather seat covers with orange piping.
Anand Mahindra once famously said, their competition is not other car brands, but the likes of Uber and Ola. And in order to stay ahead of this new age competition, they need to build cars which are not only used as machines, but something more than that. He elaborates, cars which look attractive, standout. This perspective fits perfectly with the new KUV100 Xplorer Edition.
