With only a few days left for the Mahindra Nuvosport’s launch, its engine specs have leaked online. The sub-4m ladder frame SUV which is essentially a rebranded and redesigned Quanto would be positioned above the TUV300 in the mini SUV market.
The Nuvosport is powered by the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine that powers the Quanto but the new version receives two driving modes – Economy and Power. In Economy mode, the engine delivers 72.6 PS at 3,250 rpm and 180 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,100 rpm. In Power mode, the outputs are increased to 101 PS at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,600 – 2,800 rpm.
The Nuvosport will be offered with a standard 5-speed transmission and an optional 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The drive is sent to rear wheels.
Visually, the Nuvosport features a revamped front fascia which is composed of a new hexagonal grille, angular headlamps with eyebrow-like LED daytime running light strips, reskinned hood with air scoop, and a sporty new bumper with circular fog lamps and a silver skid plate. Changes to the side are limited to black lower body cladding and matching footboard. The rear fascia features clear lens combination lamps, new spare wheel cover and reprofiled black bumper.
