The Mahindra NuvoSport has been launched in India at starting price of INR lakhs (ex-showroom, Thane). The sub-4 m ladder frame SUV is essentially a redesigned and repositioned version of the slow-selling Quanto which is now discontinued.

Mahindra says that the NuvoSport is built on the new Scorpio’s platform (not the Ingenio platform which underpins the Xylo, Genio and Imperio). The SUV features a new front fascia that is sure to polarize opinions. Apart from minor enhancements here and there, the profile and rear fascia stay intact.
The basic design and layout of the interior have been carried forward from the Quanto but as expected, the color theme and seat fabrics are new. The car also packs additional goodies. Salient features of the top-end NuvoSport includes, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, touchscreen infotainment system, power windows, multifunction steering wheel, power adjustable wing mirrors, reverse park assist, driver information system, micro hybrid technology, cruise control, driver seat height adjustment, front seat lumbar supports, remote keyless entry, reclining second row. The ABS and dual-airbags are available as an option even in entry-level variant.
Under the hood lies an improved version of the Quanto’s 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine with two-stage turbocharger. The engine offers Power and Economy modes with different outputs. In Power mode, the motor produces 101 PS and 240 Nm of torque while in the Economy mode, the outputs get detuned to 72.6 PS and 180 Nm of torque. The standard transmission option is a 5-speed manual unit but the NuvoSport is also available with an AMT. Drive is sent to the rear wheels.
The car will be available in six color options – Molten Red, Rust Orange, Diamond White, Regal Blue, Mist Silver, Fiery Black.
