Mahindra Quanto AMT, Verito Electric, XUV500 Hybrid #AutoExpo

India’s Mahindra entered record books at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo when they unveiled their Halo electric sports car, XUV500 diesel hybrid and Verito electric. Not only they became world’s first car manufacturer to unveil a diesel hybrid SUV with a manual transmission, but they also became India’s first manufacturer to unveil an electric sports car and a sedan.

Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid technology, the world’s first hybrid diesel manual SUV, was showcased via a cut section and transparent acrylic body so as to give viewers an in-depth look at the hybrid technology within.

mahindra electric hybridXUV500 hybrid, besides being highly eco friendly is also slated to be 18 percent easier on fuel than its regular diesel counterpart. Hybrid system on board the XUV500 consists of internal combustion engine and an electric motor while it also brings together Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor and Lithium Ion battery pack.

IMG_8437Mahindra’s Quanto AMT was presented at the 2014 Auto expo with a host of upgrades. It is thanks to collaboration between Mahindra and Ricardo that the new Quanto receives 5 speed Automated Manual Transmission which goes a long way in enhancing driving experience and fuel economy. Quanto AMT is likely to retain its 1.5 liter, three-cylinder diesel engine offering 98.6 bhp peak power and 240 Nm peak torque.

IMG_8455The first in its class to offer AMT, Mahindra could also introduce AMT on other smaller offerings such as the Verito and Verito Vibe so as to make them more attractive to buyers. Mahindra Verito Electric was also unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo. Powered by Lithium ion batteries, it can travel 80 kms on a full charge and has a top speed of 85 kmph. The batteries takes 7 hours to charge fully, via 230V – 15A. It achieves 80% charge in just 1 hour.
