Gul Panag gifted Mahindra Reva e2o electric car on her birthday
Built in India, Mahindra Reva e2o today is being exported to 24 countries around the world. First launched in India back in March 2013, in August 2014 a new top end variant of the Reva e2o was launched. This one came with an extended range of 125 km which is 40 km over that offered by the standard variant.
The premium variant of Mahindra e20 receives power steering, infotainment system, reverse parking camera and assist besides driver information display. Mahindra e2o premium variant also receives a unique feature called REVive application. This feature can be activated via a smart phone bringing emergency power source into the vehicle when it runs out of battery power. This feature can boost the e20 for an additional distance of 8 km.
Mahindra e20 has all the conveniences of a city car. It has the smallest turning radius and features such as hill hold which prevents it from rolling back when in a gradient. The premium variant of this environment friendly car is priced at INR 5.72 lakhs with monthly energy fee of INR 2,999.
Despite these traits, the Mahindra e20 has not seen much of sales in the country, reasons for which are plenty. Lack of government subsidy, dearth of charging stations and related infrastructure is stunting the growth of electric vehicles while customer perception of electric vehicles is also in dire need of development. In spite of these, Mahindra Reva has sold over 5,000 electric vehicles till date.
