Launch of Mahindra S101 is slated for August – September 2015, in a price bracket of under Rs 4 lakhs.

Update 4 – 23rd November 2015

Expected to be launched in January 2016, two new set of spy shots of the upcoming Mahindra S101 SUV (reportedly named X100) have been shared online by Shifting-Gears and Team-BHP. The first spy shot reveals Mahindra S101’s rear completely, except for the whit piece of camouflage hiding the tailgate.

In the second set of spy shots, which were clicked near Mahindra plant in Chakan, Pune, we can see the car being wrapped in a new yellow coloured camouflage. The two test mules seem to be wearing production ready body, exactly like the one in the first spy shot which can be seen in the title image above.

Update 3 – 6th November 2015

MotorVikatan has spied the KUV100 / S101 in production ready format. Though camouflaged, the latest spy shots reveal new details about the upcoming Mahindra car.

To be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options, Mahindra S101 gets C pillar mounted door handles, as seen on Chevrolet Beat. To be priced in the under INR 4 lakh segment, S101 will compete with the likes of Maruti WagonR, Hyundai i10, and the upcoming Tata Kite as well as Datsun Redi-Go.

Reportedly, the S101 will be called KUV100. Further research also reveals that the domain belongs to Mahindra & Mahindra. Below is the official logo as per MotorOctane.

Update 1 – 20th August 2015

Mahindra continues to test the S101 compact SUV. The latest spy shot of the car emerges from Kerala. Thanks to MotorTrend, we now have a clear look at the interiors of the Mahindra S101.

The new spy shot reveals the dashboard of Mahindra S101 completely. As you can seen in the photo below, the dashboard is finished in black. On the centre console, it gets piano black finish with silver accents, same is seen on the new three spoke steering wheel.

Codenamed S101, the upcoming Mahindra compact SUV is slated for launch in India before Diwali festive season in September 2015. Spied on test over a dozen times in different terrains, this is the first time that the Mahindra S101 SUV is seen in a production ready guise.

The sub 4 meter SUV will be positioned below the Quanto. It will be the most affordable SUV in the Mahindra line-up; with starting price expected to be under Rs 4 lakhs. Once launched, Mahindra S101 will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport, and upcoming cars like Maruti XA Alpha and Tata Nexon.

The S101, also known as the baby XUV500, is also rumoured to be christened as XUV300. Built on a new monocoque platform, interiors of Mahindra S101 SUV will sport best in class equipment that includes a new infotainment system, automatic air conditioning, multifunction steering wheel and safety features that include a total of four air bags, ABS, EBD and ESP. Interior space will be at a premium in a 3+3 configuration, despite the fact that it is a compact FWD SUV.

Engine options on board the Mahindra S101 will include Mahindra’s new engine family in the form of three cylinder 1.2l petrol and diesel mills. These new engines are smaller versions of their bigger engines, but are more advanced. They will set benchmarks in the segment where efficiency and power outputs are concerned. Apart from manual transmission options, it will also get AMT gearbox. This will not only make S101 the first Mahindra car to feature AMT option, but also the most affordable SUV with automatic gearbox.
