Dusk Edition is based on the range-topping S11 trim of Mahindra Scorpio PikUp Karoo – Shares the same engine specs and features
Mahindra has a decent presence in select countries outside India, especially in the lifestyle segment of passenger vehicles. The Indian utility vehicles manufacturer has launched a limited edition model of PikUp Karoo called Dusk that has been aimed to tackle more hardcore off-road trails.
For reference, PikUp Karoo is based on the pickup truck derivative of Scorpio. The special edition Mahindra Scorpio Based 4×4 PikUp comes with a more rugged exterior carrying a dedicated off-road kit and an upgraded suspension setup.
Scorpio Dusk 4×4 – Spruced Up Exterior Styling
This limited-run variant is an extension of the range-topping double car S11 trim of Scorpio PikUp and has been specifically designed for customers looking for a vehicle primarily for off-road usage. It is offered with a 4×4 drivetrain as standard and rolls on 17-inch machined alloy wheels finished in black with silver detailing on the outer rim. These are wrapped around by all-terrain tyres with a very thick profile and wide cross-section.
The exterior of the pickup truck has been spruced to provide a more rugged appearance with a very prominent all-black theme covered in Matte finish giving it a distinct appeal in comparison to the standard model. The package also includes add-ons such as side steps made of steel, robust overhang fenders and a styling bar on the rear load bay. It also features a roller shutter door like the standard Karoo.
To accentuate its brawny appearance, Mahindra has added a special bull bar and a new set of bumpers that boast a machined steel finish. In addition, the rear bumper doubles as a heavy-duty step which has been trimmed with a non-slip diamond plate. It also gets extra heavy-duty recovery loops and a mounting point for a high-lift jack. Both front and rear bumpers have been designed with overlanding in mind.
A powder-coated steel bash plate at front, black claddings around the wheel arches, a 4×4 sticker and blue Karoo decals on side door panels are some other styling highlights which give the pickup truck an adventurous appeal. The entire loading bay has been rubberized whereas the front bumper also houses a special set of fog lamps.
Upgraded Hardware
All said the limited-run Dusk Edition is more function than fashion as its hardware has been upgraded to support hardcore trail bashing. This includes a tweaked suspension setup featuring new bushes, heavy-duty gas-filled shock absorbers and bespoke heavy-duty custom-built rear leaf springs. Despite these ramifications, ground clearance remains identical at 210mm. This ensures amplified off-roading prowess without affecting its on-road mannerisms.
Powering Karoo Dusk is a familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that kicks out 153 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels via a 4WD system. The new special edition PikUp Karoo has been priced at R549,999 (approx. INR 27.25 lakh). Mahindra is working on new gen Scorpio and its Pikup version, which are expected to launch next year.
