Mahindra XUV500 receives major tech upgrade – Existing owners can also get

The new age Mahindra XUV500 features Android Auto, Connected Apps, Ecosense and Emergency Call, all catered to meet evolving tech needs. The new in-vehicle XUV500 tech experience eases connectivity, convenience and entertainment requirements.

In its latest initiative, the Mahindra electronics team has introduced over 25 customer focused tech upgrades/features. Mahindra believes its tech features are well perceived in the market keeping in mind sales volume of XUV500 and Scorpio top end variants.

The system tells you your driving score in real time.

The Hardware-in-Loop laboratory lays the framework to introduce the latest features / technologies in a timely fashion. The lab has been the seat for great tech groundwork over time beginning with the talking car back in 2003. Over time the lab has masterminded Light-sensing headlamps (2007), Cruise controls (2007), Micro-hybrid (Start/Stop) (2008), Voice command technology (2009), Stating bending headlamp (2011), Touch-screen infotainment & navigation (2011), XUV500 with 6 airbags & pedestrian protection (2011), Bluesense Mobile phone app (2012), Brake energy regeneration (2015), Mahindra MiniSMART vehicle diagnostics App (2016 and many such class leading features.

The system is in-sync with the Mahindra app in your phone.

Mahindra hasn’t just limited its focus on tech advancement but has along the way offered convenience features like 6-way power seats, electric sun-roof, logo-projection light from OVRM, parking lamp (Magic-eye) and tail-lamp with LED light-guide, and reverse parking. The latest wave of offerings to improve on customer experience are Ecosense, Connected Apps, E-Call, Single Touch Lane Change, and integrated Android Auto in the XUV500.

You can also share your driving score on social media, and compete with fellow XUV owners.

Ecosense monitors driving pattern to maximise fuel economy and thereby reduce emissions. Ecoscore is computed on excessive high speed, and idling, optimal gear selection, aggressive acceleration, and braking, and clutch override. Ecoscore and Drive Summary can even be uploaded on Social Media rightaway. All data is stored in cloud through smartphone data connection, and can be retrieved on the WithYouHamesha portal.

The system comes with pre-installed apps. Connect it with your phone’s wifi, and you can operate them seamlessly, even using voice command.

Ecosense helps compare driving skills with peers. A status rank is awarded and drive recommendations offered.
Android Auto betters in-car infotainment tech through a series of connected services and apps on the XUV500. With safety being an optimal focus, Android Auto minimizes driver distraction by syncing phone content on to the vehicle infotainment system so drivers can stay focused on the road. This is made possible through intuitive interfaces, integrated steering wheel controls, and speech recognition. Distraction-free safe driving means news, tweets and sports information are read out. In-app updates happen automatically.

The in-built Text-to-Speech feature will read out everything that is on screen. This includes LIVE cricket scores, your mails, messages, even news articles from the apps installed. This way you can stay focused on driving.

XUV500 customers can access Google maps live traffic and voice navigation. Hands-free telephony eases calls and messages functionality on the go. Google Play music streams songs from a customized playlist. Internet music, Internet radio, Messenger, Audiobooks & Podcasts are accessible.

It also gets a emergency call. When your airbags deploy, the car which is connected to your phone, sends out messages to your family, Ambulance, and Mahindra WithYouHamesha team with your location details. This way you get help at the earliest.

Google maps provide voice guided turn-by-turn navigation information. Hands-free telephony enables customer to make and receive phone calls, send and receive messages.

XUV500 features E-Call technology. In case of an accident when airbags are deployed, XUV500 calls emergency services while also sending alert notifications via SMS to pre-stored numbers of ambulance, emergency services and Mahindra customer service (WithYouHamesha) with vehicle and location details with Google map link. The feature is automatically when the smartphone is paired with the vehicle.

Benefits of this upgrade.

Connected Apps means the infotainment system is internet via Wi-Fi hotspot capable to access native content at the press of a button or voice command. Apps on offer include: Gaana, Criclive, Zomato, Bookmyshow, Hashtag (Social media), News Centre (NDTV, India Today), Calendar (Google), Foreca (Weather), World Clock, and Calculator.

As of now, only the top end variants of XUV500 is being provided with this update. In time, all their passenger cars will get the update. Existing owners of XUV500 can visit dealership and get their system upgraded at a nominal one time cost. The update is not available OTA.
