23 Feb 2015 – What was earlier expected to be a facelift of XUV500, while on test, turns out to be a limited edition variant. Mahindra XUV500 W8 Xclusive Edition is officially launched.
Offered only in front wheel drive and white colour, Mahindra XUV500 with sunroof comes in two variants. The top-end variant gets 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, and hydraulic assisted bonnet. These two features are not available in the lower end Xclusive edition. The other 8 features are on offer with both variants.
The new features on offer include voice messaging system, anti-pinch driver’s window with express up and down, Xclusive badge, illuminated scuff plates, sporty aluminium pedals, stylish alloys, reversing camera, and electric sunroof. The one without electrically adjustable driver seat costs Rs 14.49 lakhs while the one with electrically adjustable driver seat costs Rs 14.65 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom New Delhi.
Based on the W8 FWD variant, which costs Rs 14.07 lakhs, we are not sure why Mahindra is only offering this variant only in FWD and white colour option. As per the dealer we spoke to, this is because of the large number of white coloured XUV500 SUVs which are left unsold.
Engine specifications on board the Mahindra XUV500 W8 Xclusive Edition remains unchanged as it continues to be powered by a 2.2 liter mHawk direct injection, turbocharged diesel engine mated to a six speed speed manual gearbox. This engine is capable of 138 bhp power at 3,750 rpm and 330 Nm peak torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. Bookings of Mahindra XUV500 W8 Xclusive Edition have opened at a down payment of INR 50,000. Hurry if interested, as the car is only available in limited numbers (700 units) and on a first come first served basis.
