Talking to PTI, RS Kalsi, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, MSIL, revealed that Maruti Baleno bookings have exceeded 21,000 units. The newly launched premium hatchback has drawn over 56,000 footfalls to the Nexa outlets within 10 days from the launch.
The Baleno ended its first week with sales (dispatch) of over 4,500 units. With festive season acting as a catalyst, the new Maruti is expected to end November as a segment leader, dethroning the Hyundai Elite i20 in the process.
The Baleno is powered by a 84.2 PS 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine or a 75 PS 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. The former gets a 5-MT and CVT while the latter makes do with a 5-MT.
Staying true to its premium positioning, the top-end variant of the hatchback offers projector headlamps, foglights, alloy wheels, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking sensor with camera, automatic climate control, electrically controlled and foldable wing mirrors, etc.
The Baleno is available in four variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD are standard across the lineup.
The Maruti Baleno will play a crucial role in the automaker’s campaign to establish itself in the upmarket segments.
