Maruti Baleno patent sketches leak ahead of world premiere next week

The car will be made in India for global consumption.

The Maruti Baleno (Suzuki Baleno in international market) patent sketches have been leaked ahead of car’s first public appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. Suzuki has already revealed three official images but the patent sketches reveal all the angles.

Interestingly, the design in the patents show a front grille with twin slats like in the S-Cross whereas the image released by the company was devoid of it. We think that this particular design element is specific to select markets including India.

The Baleno attempts to cover aspects that were left out by the Swift such as spacious cabin and voluminous boot capacity. The hatchback which measures 4,023 in length has its silhouette right in the middle of the hatchback and station wagon territories.

The will debut a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine.

Based on the new global compact car platform which is claimed to be lighter and sturdier, the Baleno will debut a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged BoostJet petrol engine whose specifications are still under wraps. Depending on the markets, there would be more engines like 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel mills from the Swift.

Previous spyshots indicate that the hatchback comes packed with SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, multifunction steering wheel, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and so on.

The Maruti Baleno will be made in India for global consumption. The car is expected to make its sales debut in the country this festive season.
