At the 2020 Auto Expo today, much awaited petrol version of the Brezza has been unveiled. This new Brezza replaces the current Brezza diesel.

The best selling sub 4 meter SUV of India, Maruti Brezza diesel is soon to be discontinued. It was back at the 2016 Auto Expo that the current Brezza 1.3 liter diesel variant had made its debut. Now, 4 years later, replacing this Brezza, is the new Brezza facelift, with a new petrol engine. This is the first time Brezza is being offered with a petrol engine option.

With over 5 lakh sales since launch in 2016, Brezza diesel 1.3 liter engine was loved by many. But unfortunately, the engine was not updated to BS6 norms. This resulted in Maruti deciding to discontinue diesel Brezza, and replace it with petrol Brezza.

2020 Maruti Brezza petrol is powered by the same 1.5 liter BS6 petrol engine, which also powers other Maruti cars like Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz. This engine delivers 104 PS and 138 Nm torque. Mild hybrid system is also on offer, with Maruti SHVS. Transmission options on offer include 5 speed manual transmission and 4 speed automatic. AMT is not on offer with 2020 Brezza. Older Brezza diesel was on offer with 5 speed MT or AMT.

Speaking about design, there is no drastic difference between the older Brezza and the new Brezza. What has changed, is that now in the front you get a twin-slat thick chrome grille. Flanking on each side of the grille is revised headlight cluster housing projector headlamps and LED DRL. Lower bumper too has been revised to house silver skid plates and fog lamps. Mono tone as well as dual tone colour options are on offer.

From the side view, the difference you will be able to notice easily, are the all new alloy wheels. Top of the line BS6 Brezza petrol gets machine cut dual tone alloys. Rear design has been kept largely unchanged, except for the reworked LED insert in the tail lamp.

Interiors too are unchanged. Just like the older Brezza, the new Brezza gets all black interiors. Dashboard, seats, steering wheel, etc has remain same. Smartplay infotainment system with colour touchscreen will take care of your connectivity needs. Instrument cluster houses digital display for MID, while tachometer has been updated to show higher rpm.

Presenting the new Vitara Brezza at the Auto Expo 2020, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Vitara Brezza created a disruption amongst compact SUVs. Offering a new dual-tone design, class leading features, outstanding fuel-efficiency and personalisation options, Vitara Brezza quickly emerged as a segment leader. Keeping up with its strong, urban and premium appeal, the all-new Vitara Brezza is bolder, sportier and more powerful. We are confident that all-new Vitara Brezza too will continue the legacy with overwhelming customer response.”
