When Car Thieves Get Cocky: A Note Left Behind – If you report it to the police, you won’t get it

Ah, car theft – the ultimate thrill for the criminal mastermind. Only, this thief even left a note. “You will get the car in 3 days. The caveat, ‘If you report it to the police, you won’t get it.’ Because nothing says trust like a thief’s word.

Car theft is a serious crime that can have a devastating impact on victims and their communities. When a car/bike is stolen, it can leave the owner feeling violated and helpless, and it can also disrupt their daily lives, causing financial and logistical difficulties. Sadly, Abdul Aziz is now left coping with the loss of an almost new Maruti Brezza ZXi. The car had only just been registered on March 20, 2023.

When a Thief Offers False Comfort: ‘Don’t Take Tension’

In this case, a thief left a note for the victim, saying “You will get the car in 3 days. Don’t cry out loud. If you report it to the police, you won’t get it. Don’t tell anyone. And as if to provide assurance, the note says, ‘Don’t take tension’.

A clear indication that the thief is not only brazen, but also taunting the victim with their own sense of powerlessness. A cruel reminder that the victim is at the mercy of the thief, and that they have no control over what will happen to their property. The letter in question was scribbled across a wall in the victim’s home.

An Insult to Injury: The Taunting Note on the Wall of a Car Theft Victim

Car theft is a common crime in many areas, and it can be especially prevalent in neighbourhoods where there is a high concentration of parked cars, or where security measures are not adequate. In this instance, it didn’t help that the thieves were able to enter the home, and find the keys.

While a perplexed Abdul Aziz was only just beginning to understand what was happening around him, he couldn’t stop the thieves from driving away. And then found the scribbled confession/warning on a wall. This was a private home, and the car was parked on their property. Not surprisingly, the theft has had a ripple effect on the quiet community, causing increased anxiety and fear among residents and making people feel less safe.

And no, the car owner isn’t taking the thief’s word at face value, or encouraging his mind games. The Local police station /OC were alerted on priority, and the owner has done numerous media interviews about the same. Investigation is underway. And that note on the wall will make a good forensic case study to match it to the writer. Car theft is not a victimless crime, and it can have a significant impact.

The robbers stole the Maruti Brezza ZXi car (AS 01 FL 7552) from Aziz house. The incident occurred at Bor Athiabari village, Mangaldai Police Station, Darrang district of Assam at around 4:30 am, April 25, 2023. It takes a special kind of audacity to steal someone’s car and then taunt them about it.
