Unveiled as a concept at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will take place of the SX4 which is being phased out. To compete against Honda City and Hyundai Verna, Ciaz will boast of total length of 4,545 mm and promises better rear seating as compared to the SX4. In an expected price range of INR 7.5 to 10.5 lakhs, Ciaz will be offered in four variants each in petrol and diesel engine options to include V, V+, Z and Z+. It will receive extensive premium features not seen on board the SX4 while top end variants will have projector headlamps, engine starter button, a multi function steering wheel and AC with climate controls.
Sitting on 16” multi spoke alloy wheels, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will abound in safety features to include ABS, EBD and dual airbags. The Ciaz will be powered by a K14 VVT petrol mill that is also seen on the Ertiga. This 1372cc petrol engine delivers peak power of 92.5 PS at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is quite and with low vibrations. The diesel engine is a DDiS 1,248cc engine seen on many Maruti Suzuki models. This diesel engine delivers 90PS peak power at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 1,750 rpm. The oil burner is mated to a five speed manual transmission while the petrol Ciaz receives a five speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Petrol engine claims mileage of 20.73 kmpl and the diesel engine offers 26.21 kmpl as per ARAI ratings. More details can be found in the brochure
