Maruti Ciaz races ahead of Honda City, Hyundai Verna – 24k sold in Apr to Sep period

New Maruti Ciaz, launched in India in August 2018 is ruling the sales charts in the country. The Ciaz premium sedan is regaled by buyers in India due to the latest technology, outstanding and advanced features, higher fuel efficiency and several safety features that put the Ciaz way ahead in terms of competition.

Taking into account September 2018 sales, a total of 6,246 units of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz were sold. These sales were against a total of 6,065 units of Honda City (2,564 units) and Hyundai Verna (3,501 units) which were sold during the past month, thus making the Ciaz the highest selling model in its category.

Not only in September 2018, but high sales of the Maruti Ciaz have been noted ever since launch. During the period April-September 2018, a total of 24,000 units of the Ciaz have been sold while the new Ciaz came in August 2018 to add to these outstanding sales. The premium sedan commands a 28.8% market share in its segment with over 2,34,000 units of cumulative sales ever since the model was launched in 2014.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, at pole position in the A3+ segment this year, is sold via NEXA outlets. It is offered in a new Nexa Blue color scheme which has contributed 25.5% to total Ciaz sales while a total of over 10,000 bookings have been received for the new Ciaz in the first month of launch.

Maruti Ciaz electric is expected to be launched by FY 2021 in India.

Following a upgrade earlier this year, new features include a grille, headlamp cluster and new bumpers at the front and rear. It now sports LED DRLs, cruise control and new interiors done up in a beige color scheme with faux wood inserts.

Maruti Ciaz Facelift is now powered by a more efficient 1.5 liter K-Series petrol engine offering 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque which is 13% more power and 6% more torque as compared to that offered on the 1.4 liter engine which powered its earlier counterpart. This new engine offers Smart Hybrid technology with a Li-ion battery pack while the 1.3 liter DDiS Smart Hybrid diesel engine continues to do duty on the Ciaz facelift.

Mr. R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said “We are delighted with the response to the new Ciaz. Over 10,000 customers have booked the New Ciaz in the first month of its launch. The complete package of unmatched performance, bold looks, elite interiors, convenience of space and host of safety features clearly pulls the new Ciaz ahead of competition. Today, Ciaz is one of the most successful premium sedans in India. With a sale of over 24,000 units in the first half of this fiscal, Ciaz has taken the pole position in the A3+ segment this year so far. We are thankful to customers for their confidence and choice that reinforces our commitment to offer premium products.”
