Maruti Ciaz will soon get enhanced safety and a new mid-level variant to boost its audience base. The move is most likely a response to customer feedback.
For starters, all variants of Ciaz including the entry level V trim are expected to be equipped with standard driver side airbag. The new variant named V(O) will add ABS with EBD to features that are offered by base V. Rest of the variant lineup would continue without any change.
The car which is sold alongside the newly launched S-Cross through Nexa dealership network is powered by a 1.4-litre K Series petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDiS (Fiat MultiJet) diesel engine. The petrol motor puts out 91 bhp and 130 Nm of torque. The oil burner is capable of 88 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The former is available with a choice of 4 AT and 5 MT while the latter is available only with a 5 MT.

Unlike its predecessor SX4 which was sales dud, Ciaz has been managing to clock good monthly volumes since its launch although it is not able to match the sales of segment leader Honda City. With enhanced safety, introduction of hybrid variant and boosted premium appeal owing to Nexa outlets, Maruti Suzuki is looking to sustain the sedan’s sales momentum.
