Maruti Suzuki Nexa lineup is all set to introduce its latest offering – the Fronx B-segment vehicle in India, which is expected to be priced higher than the Baleno. In this blog, we will compare the design, features, safety, and performance of both cars.

Is Fronx Really a Coupe Crossover or a Hatchback in Disguise?

Fronx has a coupe crossover design, whereas the Baleno is a regular hatchback. Fronx looks more athletic due to body cladding, front and rear faux skid plates that reduce visual mass, and roof rails. Moreover, its upright bonnet, slightly raised ground clearance, and sloping roof make it look taller and sportier compared to the Baleno.

While Fronx has a split headlight setup with LED DRLs on top and reflector headlights below, Baleno gets LED projector headlights and fog lamps. It features a wide LED light bar that connects both tail lights, making it look more modern. Both cars get 16-inch alloy wheels, but Fronx design is modern.

Fronx and Baleno have many identical features, including a 9-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, and a HUD. Both cars also have 6 airbags in top variant. Take a look at the detailed walkaround video by Garage Reviews channel.

Both cars get Suzuki Connect, which provides advanced telematics solutions for remote functions and driving behaviour analysis. Fronx and Baleno share a 1.2L K12 petrol motor that delivers 83 bhp of power (66kW @ 6000 rpm) and 113 Nm of torque (@4,400 rpm). This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) or an automated manual transmission (AMT). So what’s exciting about Fronx launch?

Fronx 1.0L BoosterJet turbo petrol engine produces 99 bhp of power and 147.6 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit.

Fronx, Baleno – Mileage, NEXA Safety Shield and more

In terms of fuel efficiency, Baleno delivers 22.35 km/l for MT and 22.94 km/l with Auto Gear Shift. Fronx mileage figures are expected to be in the similar range. Speaking about safety, Baleno as well as Fronx are built on the same HEARTECT platform, which uses High Tensile Steel and Ultra High Tensile Steel, for strength and safety.

Baleno and Fronx prioritizes safety with its NEXA Safety Shield, which includes 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program with Hill Hold Assist, Speed Alert System, Driver and Co-Driver Seat Belt reminder, Rear Parking Assist Sensors, Head Up Display, and 360 View Camera. Both cars also have ISOFIX Child Seat Anchorages.

The Baleno’s Familiarity vs. Fronx’s Freshness: Which One Will You Choose?

Maruti Suzuki has been the leader in the Indian automobile segment for years. With its portfolio of budget cars, it has been catering to millions. The safe bets have been successful for the brand so far. However, with the Fronx, Maruti Suzuki has tried to break away from its matrix and bring excitement to the B-segment vehicles.

Fronx is the latest entrant in the Nexa lineup and is based on Baleno. It is a coupe crossover design and will be priced higher than Baleno. So, is the Fronx’ finesse worth it. For those looking for turbo performance and a more modern design, Fronx is no doubt fancy. And Maruti doesn’t disappoint in fuel efficiency.
