During December 2014, MSIL experienced substantial increase in both domestic sales and exports. The company reported a 20.8% increase in sales with 1,09,791 units sold as against projected sales of 1.02 lakh units and sales of 90,924 units sold in December 2013. MSIL’s domestic sales increased 13% to 98,109 units while exports increased 117% to 11,682 units as compared to 4,311 units exported in December 2013.
High discounts, typically seen in the last month of the calendar year have resulted in increased sales for MSIL during December. Sales of models in the mini segment such as Alto, A-Star and WagonR declined by 9.6% to 34,625 units as against 38,286 units sold in the same month of the previous year. However, models such as the Swift, Estilo, Ritz and DZire rose by 23% to 41,532 units in December 2014 as compared to sales of 33,766 units in December 2013.

Marked increase in sales were noted for the DZire Tour compact sedan of which 1,676 units were sold as compared to just 832 units sold in December 2013. Utility vehicles such as Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga also saw an increase in sales by 12.2% to 5,774 units in December 2014 as against 5,146 units in December 2013 while sales of vans like the Omni and Eeco rose sharply by 29.6% to 10,771 units last month as compared to 8,312 units sold in the same month in the previous year.
