Maruti Suzuki starts 2017 with a bang – Registers highest ever January sales

Maruti Suzuki India has started the year 2017 in the best possible way. After launching the much awaited Ignis on 13th January, the company has went on to post their best-ever January sales. During January 2017, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 144,936 cars (domestic + exports), marking a stark increase of 27.1% as against sales registered during January 2016 (113,606 sold). This number comes at a time when the industry was battling effects of demonetization.

In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 133,934 cars in Jan 2017, as against 106,383 cars sold in Jan 2016, marking a growth of 25.9%. Exports too increased by 44.8% as Maruti exported 10,462 cars last month, as against 7,223 cars exported in Jan 2016. Below is the detailed sales report table –

If you look at the table, except for the super Compact Segment, which sells the DZire Tour in the taxi market, every other car segment has registered a growth. The Mini Segment which includes Alto and WagonR range, posted 10.9% growth and sales of 37,928 units. Compact Segment which includes Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, posted growth of 25.2% and sales of 55,817 units.

In the Mid-Size segment, where the Ciaz is on offer, sales boomed by 20% while the Utility Vehicle segment which houses Gypsy, S-Cross, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, sales grew by 101%. Vans Segment include Eeco and Omni, which registered growth of 34%. Thanks to this record sales, Maruti Suzuki’s share prices have touched a new 52 week high. The share price touched high of 5,999.90 today.

This year, Maruti Suzuki will launch new cars to continue their growth in the industry. New cars include Baleno RS, Ciaz facelift, S-Cross facelift, etc.
