Maruti Suzuki XL6 interiors, exteriors leaked on video ahead of launch

A premium version of Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be launched in India on August 21. As Ertiga is already a bestseller, XL6 can help the company to further boost sales in this segment. Although XL6 utilizes the same 5th generation HEARTECT platform, it is slightly bigger than Ertiga and comes with several cosmetic and feature upgrades.

XL6 gets sporty, stylish exteriors with redesigned blacked-out grille, full LED headlamps, LED DRLs that connect the dual chrome strips on the front grille, prominent all-body cladding, large air intake, and chrome bash plate. XL6 also gets contrasting silver coloured roof rails, black ORVMs with integrated turn signals, chrome door handles, floating design with blacked out pillars, and alloy wheels with multi-spoke design.

The thing that gives XL6 its name is its 6-seat configuration (2+2+2). While Ertiga has the regular bench seat in the middle row, XL6 is offering two premium pilot seats that are designed for superior comfort. Another key upgrade is the leather upholstery, a premium feature in comparison to Ertiga’s fabric upholstery. Other key features on the inside include 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay Studio, automatic climate control and height adjustable driver’s seat.

At the time of launch, XL6 will only come with the 1.5-litre K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engine that also powers the current Ertiga and Ciaz. The BS-VI compliant engine makes 105 hp of max power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of max torque at 4,400 rpm. Engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission may be introduced at a later date. Diesel option may be added later.

Unlike Ertiga that is sold via Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealerships, XL6 will be sold via the premium Nexa dealerships. It will be offered in only higher-spec Zeta and Alpha trims and take on rivals such as Mahindra Marazzo. Expected to cost around Rs 50k – 70k more than Ertiga, XL6 will be available in the range of Rs 9.50 – 10.50 lakh.
