The newest Maruti Suzuki car, Vitara Brezza has managed to find a place in the list of top 15 cars sold in India for the month of April 2016. Launched only recently, Maruti Vitara Brezza is already India’s second best selling SUV. First is Hyundai Creta, which won the race by a few units.
Speaking of overall performance of car manufacturers during the month, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders declared a 2% increase in sales during April 2016.
While private car sales dipped by 2.5% during the past month, purchases in the fleet segment saw total new car registration go up by 2%. Top 15 selling cars in April remained more or less the same as compared to April 2015 with a few new names.
Maruti Suzuki total sales in April 2016 stood at 1,26,569 units, up 13.3% as against 1,11,748 units sold in April 2015. Maruti Alto topped the list, even though it registered sales decline of 23% to 16,583 units.
WagonR gained one position to No.3 with 15,323 units sold as against 13,872 units sold in April 2015 while DZire which was positioned at No. 4 saw sales decline 20% to 13,256 units as against 13,872 units sold in April 2015.
Hyundai i20 (Elite + Active) took the fifth spot with 11,147 units sold. 6th spot was taken by Hyundai Grand i10 while on 7th spot was Renault Kwid, followed by Maruti Baleno on 8th spot.
Maruti Celerio took the 9th spot. It registed a staggering 61% increase in sales during the month. This increase is sales was primarily due to increased demand for Automated Manual Transmission being shown by buyers in the country. On the 10th spot was Maruti Omni with 8,356 units sold.
