Ahead of official launch on August 21, brochure of the new Maruti XL6 has leaked. Maruti Suzuki XL6 is a 6 seater premium MPV. It will be presented in two trims of Zeta and Alpha, with a petrol engine mated to both manual and automatic transmission options.
It gets an array of exterior colour options of Metallic Premium Silver, Metallic Magma Gray, Prime Auburn Red, Pearl Brave Khaki, Pearl Artic White and Nexa Blue and is expected to be priced between Rs.9-11 lakhs.
Though the new XL6 is based on the Ertiga, exteriors get cosmetic updates so as to set the two apart. These include a new trapezoidal front grille, new quad LED headlamps, a sculpted bonnet, faux skid plates, LED fog lamps, distinctive body cladding and blacked out wing mirrors. It also gets roof rails, LED light guides for tail lamps and new alloy wheels finished in a different colour.
Interiors are seen in a plum and black colour scheme and premium accents all around. It sports black leather upholstery, a 7” SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, with smartphone connectivity and captain seats in the middle row.
The XL6, being positioned on a Heartect platform gets safety features which include dual front airbags, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors, high speed alert and ABS, EBD and ESP which are offered as standard.
Feature highlights on board the XL6 include SmartPlay Studio, Cruise Control, Signature Quad LED headlamps, Smart Hybrid technology and Automatic Transmission. It gets a BS6 compliant petrol engine. Diesel engine is not on offer.
The BS VI compliant 1.5 liter, 5 cylinder K15B petrol engine gets a mild hybrid system. It offers 105 PS power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 19.01 kmpl where manual transmission is concerned and at 17.99 kmpl in AT mode.
Only two variants are on offer – Zeta MT / AT and Alpha MT / AT. All important features are seen on all variants. Features missing in the Zeta trims are – leather wrapped steering wheel, leather seats, sun visor vanity mirror installation, auto headlamps with follow me home and reverse parking camera.
Bookings of the Maruti XL6 have opened at Nexa showrooms at Rs.11,000. Bookings can also be done at the Nexa Experience website. Deliveries are set to commence on the same day of launch. Once launched, the Maruti XL6 will compete with the Maruti Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and Mahindra Marazzo.
