The Mercedes-AMG GT S has been launched in India today at INR 2.4 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is the 5th AMG product to be launched in India this year and is the penultimate candidate in Mercedes India’s 15-car launch strategy for 2015. The car launched by multiple DTM Champion Bernd Schneider.
The company has already breached the 10,000 unit sales so far in the calendar and is poised to end 2015 with a new sales record. The AMG GT S sits at the very top of the product portfolio as a halo car.
The car is suspended by double wishbone setup with electronic dampers.
The stylish and muscular GT is the second car to be completely developed by Mercedes’ AMG performance division (the first being the mighty SLS AMG). The sportscar adopts the brand’s latest design language with almond shaped LED headlamps with daytime running elements, a prominent grille and narrow LED wraparound taillights. The distinct silhouette is characterized by a long bonnet, swooping roofline and a stubby overhang.
The two-door coupe gets a sporty interior with premium carbon fibre and leather appointments. A flat-bottomed steering wheel, multiple control buttons that are neatly stacked on either side of the centre console, a stand-alone infotainment display and sports bucket seats are the highlights.
The 4.0-litre Biturbo engine puts out 510 PS.
Under the generously proportioned bonnet sits a 4.0-litre Biturbo hand-built petrol engine which generates 510 PS. The colossal power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed AMG automatic transmission. The AMG GT S can reach triple digit speeds form rest in just 3.8 seconds and can hit a top-speed of 310 kmph.
The elaborate equipment list includes electronic differential, double-wishbone suspension setup at all the four corners with electronic dampers, Pre-Safe brake with fully autonomous braking, adaptive braking, attention assist, high beam assist, lane keeping assistance, collision prevention, etc. Multiple airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD go without saying.
