Dimensions – Mercedes Benz CLA is much longer at 4,630 mm length, a little narrower at 1,777 mm width and a tad taller at 1,432 mm, compared to the measurements of its arch rival Audi A3 – 4,456 x 1,796 x 1,416 mm. But due to the flamboyant, sloping roofline to make a coupé appearance, Mercedes CLA looses out on rear headroom and compensates by offering extra leg and knee room. The CLA has 62 mm longer wheelbase at 2,699 mm, similar ground clearance and turning radius of 160 mm and 5.5 metres respectively. Fuel tank capacity in both cars are same at 50 litres, and boot volume in Audi A3 is lower than CLA’s 470 litre luggage space by 45 litres.
Mercedes Benz CLA and Audi A3 also compete with D-segment sedans like Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. Not really compete, but threaten their sales big time.
