Engine – All these cars are powered by 3.0 litre diesel engines with V6 cylinders except for BMW 530d M Sport featuring inline 6. All engines have 4 valves per cylinder. BMW and Jaguar engines have twin turbo. Speaking of power, Jaguar XF S pushes 275 PS max. @ 4,000 rpm, slightly above Mercedes Benz E350 CDI at 256 PS. BMW 530d M Sport produces 258 PS max. power and Audi A6 3.0 TDI delivers lowest 245 PS. In terms of peak torque, Mercedes Benz won over the British at 620 Nm while the latter generates 600 Nm. BMW is again third at 560 Nm and Audi comes last at 500 Nm only.

Of these luxury sedans, except Audi A6 3.0 TDI with quattro permanent All Wheel Drive (AWD), rest of rivals are propelled by rear wheels alone. E350 CDI and A6 have 7 speed automatic transmission while 530d and XF S get 8 speed boxes.

On acceleration front, 0 – 100 kmph sprint time of BMW 530d M Sport is best at 5.8 seconds, while Audi A6 3.0L TDI follows closely in 6.1 seconds. Jaguar XF S comes running behind in 6.4 sec and Mercedes Benz luxuriously reaches last in 6.6 sec.

Price – Jaguar XF S is the most affordable in the lot at Rs. 54.81 lakhs, while Audi A6 3.0L TDI starts at Rs. 55.80 lakhs, Mercedes Benz E350 CDI at Rs. 57.42 lakhs and BMW 530d M Sport at Rs. 58.60 lakhs.
