Mercedes-Benz India started local assembly of GLA earlier this month. Now, one of the India-made GLA SUV is all set to go on a world tour. Called ‘Great OverLand Adventure’, Mercedes-Benz GLA will undertake a six month journey through 6 continents and 17 nations across Asia, Africa, North and South America and Australia.
India started local production of Mercedes GLA SUV earlier this month. To highlight the event, it will become the first India-made car to go on a world tour.
Mercedes Benz India says that the GLA 200 CDI has gained a name for itself as a top customer preference. The car is synonymous with safety, luxury, style and comfort. This new journey will put the GLA across some of the most arduous of terrains and diverse of climates to prove it reliability and consistency.
Mercedes Benz has partnered with NDTV Network for this tour. NDTV is also excited about the prospect of partnering the adventure for the first time in the country while they will have many experiences to showcase to its viewers and readers on-air and online.
Mercedes Benz GLA 200 CDI is assembled at the company plant in Chakan, near Pune. The SUV is priced at INR 31.31 lakhs for GLA 200 CDI Style variant while Sport variant is priced at INR 34.25 lakhs. It is powered by a 2,143cc engine offering 134 bhp power at 3,600-4,400 rpm and 300 Nm torque at 1,600-3,000 rpm mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 9.9 seconds while top speed stands at 205 kmph.

With this new Mercedes Benz GLA 200 CDI, Mercedes-Benz now assembles 6 models in India which include the S-Class, E-Class, C-Class, M-Class, GL-Class and GLA.
