Mercedes-Benz India FY 16/17 sales decline of 2.4%; Q1 2017 sales growth of 1%
Mercedes Benz India sold 13,259 units during FY 2016/17, while during Q1 2017, the company sold 3,650 units. They continue to remain India's No 1 luxury car brand.
Mercedes-Benz India has announced marginal growth of 1% for Q1 2017. It is the company’s best quarterly sales to date. Q1 2017 sales stood at 3,650 units, propelled by positive performance in the SUV segment. For the period from 1st Jan 2016 to 31st March 2016, Mercedes Benz India posted sales of 3,622 units.
Mercedes Benz India FY 2016/17 sales stand at 13,259 units, down from 13,588 units sold in FY 2015/16. Sales decline for the last fiscal stands at 2.4%. Sales for the four quarters of FY 2016/17 are as follows: 3,327 units in Q1, 2,975 units in Q2, 3,307 units in Q4, and 3,650 units in Q4.
Mercedes Benz’ SUV portfolio here comprises of GLA, GLC, GLE, GLE Coupe and GLS. The segment grew by 13% in Q1 2017. The GLC notched top spot as highest selling SUV. GLE, GLE Coupe and GLS were backed by strong customer preference for the period.
Luxury sedan segment: C-Class, E-Class and S-Class sales were as per expectation. E-Class was the highest selling car through January-March 2017. The new gen made in India, for India, Long Wheelbase (LWB) RHD E-Class garnered heightened customer interest. C-Class remains an important volume contributor, and was the second highest selling model in Q1.
Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India says 2017 has started on a positive note. Mercedes Benz India is confident of improving sales in the following months.
